About Minia Alonso

Minia is the Director and Founder of the Bristol Massage Clinic, a company formed to unite a group of highly trained therapists to work together with one objective - wellbeing and effective pain relief. Because let’s face it we’ve all got aches and pains somewhere in our body. And how many people think they either need to live with it, or put it down to old age?

Being fully qualified as Clinical Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist means that Minia uses her her in-depth knowledge of anatomy and skilled manual manipulation, to offer the highest quality treatments. Effectively relieving pain and promoting healing.

She believes that understanding your injury, how it was caused and how to educate your body to prevent it recurring, is an important part of your recovery. By empowering you with rehabilitation exercises, you will be able to take control and heal yourself quickly rather than letting your injury take control of you.

Having set up the Bristol Massage Clinic, Minia works along side other dental practices in Bristol providing treatment for people suffering with TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) Disorder and jaw pain - Training all the therapists working at the clinic to the same highest level.

Minia is committed to continuous personal and professional development always keeping up to date with the latest evidence and research. She combines her bodywork with teaching massage at the prestigious Jing Institute of Advanced Massage Training based in Brighton, empowering others to be great body workers.

Her passion for massage has lead her to work around the world treating an eclectic mix of people from office workers to professional skiers, athletes, Bristol’s circus troupe, soon to be mums, dancers and the elderly.

She also spent a month in New Orleans training with Laughing Lotus to become a yoga teacher in order to better understand body in movement and the benefits of yoga as a daily practice.

Quite the best massage I have had! Minia is thorough in her assessment and sorted my problem out in one session, with no pressure to book a follow up (although I will definitely go back if I need to). She is a professional in every sense of the word.

Minia is excellent at putting me at ease and focussing on what I need from a treatment session. She uses a variety of massage methods depending on what I need and want at that particular time. Each method has been beneficial and soothing. She also provides information to help me outside of sessions, for example stretches that can ease aches and pains. Highly recommended.

I have just overcome a repetitive strain injury (RSI) in my wrists and forearms which I suffered from for more than 6 years. With Minia's help, I soon found out which area of my body was triggering the pain; it was actually the stiffness of my neck and upper arms causing the pain in my wrists and forearms. Working with her, I became aware of what is really happening in my body and that made me work on thorough stretch every day in the right area.

The session was 90min, so Minia gave me a good long message and also plenty of time to discuss before and after each session. I'm very glad that I found her!

I came to see Minia in my third trimester of my pregnancy. By this point I was suffering from various aches and pains such as carpel tunnel and sciatica. Even after my first session I felt amazing. She pin pointed my problem areas and really helped with the pain and I felt more like my normal self after weeks of frustration with the discomfort . The massage is done on your side with lots of pillows so it's very comfy and relaxing. I couldn't recommend Minia enough for a pregnancy massage and am grateful for the help she gave me.

I have had a very active sporting life for over 30 years which I would not swap for the world (!), however it has left me with a body hangover! I have worked with many masseuse' over the years and Minia is by far the best, so much so that she is the only one I have used for over 2 years. Her techniques deliver much better results than others without the screaming pain and taste of copper that I have had to endure historically. Without my monthly visits I would cease up and be in constant pain. She allows me to continue to have an active sports life which I value hugely, and contributes significantly to my well being. She is also lovely to be around, we laugh a lot during the sessions.

Being tall, I have suffered all my life from a variety of aches & pains. Minia sorts them all out. I have the utmost faith in her ability, her professionalism & her genuine interest in getting me well.
She is my secret weapon against muscle stiffness!
I can highly recommend her services.

After suffering through some RSI and whiplash I finally decided to seek some expert advice. Minia is simply excellent and my whole experience from booking to receiving my series of treatments was first class and professional throughout. Over the course of 6 treatments Minia was able to completely restore my upper back to normal. I have not had any pain since. She is kind, approachable and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

I have had numerous sports injuries as well as aches and pains from prolonged desk work and RSI. Minia has been a really important part of my life this past year and a half as she is a specialist and really understands how to ease pain and bring about greater mobility. What is special about her is that she has an integrated scientific and intuitive approach towards her therapy.
I have been able to work and move better thanks to her. I recommend her to anyone looking for a proper massage therapy for recovery and wellbeing.

After suffering from constant back pain for 8 months, seeing a back specialist (and having a rather vague diagnose), 2 physio therapists and 29 physio sessions later, I finally found Minia. She's been able to not drastically reduce my back pain but helped me with migraines, which I found out where closely related to TMJ (temporomandibular joint and muscle) problems. Minia is extremely professional and really takes pride in what she does an in particular in reducing pain and ensuring you go back to your normal life and aren't dependant on therapies. You come out of a session feeling so much more relaxed, in a better state of mind and body, and with exercises and tips. I honestly think she's absolutely brilliant!

First rate service and I was kept well informed throughout. Minia treated me last year for a problem with my IT Band, it had been niggling me on and off for well over 18 months. Stupidly I thought that resting it would do the trick but every time I started running a bit more it came back. Minia was quick to diagnose the problem... my lower back! After 3 or four sessions of amazing and specific work I was fixed. I haven't had the problem since, thanks to the exercises that Minia gave me to take away. What I particularly liked was that she was very approachable and explained what was going on. She's a font of knowledge too. So pleased with the service. Can't recommend her enough. Now I'm off for a run...

Minia's 'listening touch' searches out the source of your pain and then gently persuades your tight muscles to relax, allowing your body to realign. My low back was twisted and painful and after just one session she had worked out that the underlying problem was tight calf muscles, and persuaded my calves to relax. She is a magician!
